Summer is winding down with a swelter;
Tomatoes are ripe on the vine.

What will I do with them all, you wonder;
Let me tell you what I’ll do with mine.

  • Dehydrate and grind into a tomato power. Add herbs and spices to make meat rubs and soup flavoring.
  • Can them. Whole, crushed, diced, and sauced.
  • Freeze them. When frozen whole, tomatoes can be processed and cooked into sauce, salsa, or stews, just like a fresh tomato.
  • Create sauces, soups, condiments, and salsa. Spaghetti, chili, salsa, tomato soup, ketchup, gazpacho, and tomato paste!

Enjoying the fruits of your labor,
when old man winter comes to call;

Will put some pep in your step,
A smile on your face,
And warm your belly and your soul.
