We continue our discussion of best practices for text within graphics. Last week, it was text color and today we’ll look at the spacing of lines of text.

When you choose a font size, by default you get a similar height space between lines of that text. But you can change it, did you know that?

The height of the blank space above/below text is important, and color affects it too. Black on white is the most readable. When using lighter colors on darker background, increase the spacing and use a lighter-weight font.

Always experiment to get the effect you want. Trial and error is the name of the game!

In Canva, here’s where you adjust text spacing.
