Gratitude for Nature
Things I appreciate every day #1
I was lucky enough to have extra time for a tour of the Guana Tolomato Matanzas National Estuarine Research Reserve while I was attending a conference in St. Augustine, Florida in December 2024. It’s a beautifully preserved area with several hiking trails, a visitor center, and passionate volunteers.
After a week of sitting inside the conference sessions, I was excited to spend four hours outside in a natural setting, learning about Florida’s plant species. The photo above shows a Green Fly Orchid, growing and blooming from the bark of a tall, sturdy tree.
When I’m stressed or sad, it’s second nature to go outside. Even a short walk makes a difference.
Katie’s story about gratitude couldn’t have come at a better time. Things are hard right now. Practicing gratitude will be important, moving forward.
