Have You Tried Tomatillos in Your Salsa?

Native to Mexico, tomatillos are a staple in sauces for many Mexican dishes.
If you’ve had green sauce or salsa verde, you’ve likely had tomatillos.
They’re a perfect addition full of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.
Tomatillo and chile de arbol salsa
Ingredients
- 7 tomatillos (husked)
- 5–10 chile de arbol (depending on desired spiciness)
- 1/4 quartered white onion
- 2 quartered Roma tomatoes
- 2 cloves garlic
- Salt to taste
Directions
- Add all ingredients, except salt, to a medium saucepan and cover with at least an inch of water.
- Bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat and simmer until tender.
- Drain water.
- Let sit for 5 –10 minutes — it will be hot.
- Add ingredients to blender.
- Pulse.
- Add and adjust salt for taste.
- Pour into bowl and serve.
*1/4 cup chopped onion and cilantro are excellent options stirred in at the end.
