How the Silent Majority Offers Both Despair and Hope
Every nation has the silent majority.
The silent majority consists of law-abiding citizens with families to take care of, jobs to do, obligations to fulfill, passions to pursue, and commitments to follow.
The silent majority never revolts when the rulers perpetrate injustice. Does it mean it’s selfish, cowardly, and indifferent to society? Should we despair over its passivity?
Everywhere, the vocal minority hogs the limelight by its aggressive posturing and noisy interventions. It distorts reality.
The vocal minority does not represent a nation.
In the U.S, 75% of the people never tweet. In the Gallup 2021 survey, 42 % of Americans identified themselves as politically independent.
History’s long arc teaches that things get worse before they get better.
The majority’s silence is the calm before the storm, which will sweep away the present corrupt order.
