I Love To Learn New Things

Every few years to every decade or so, I have a strong desire to learn something new. Sometimes, I get so deeply involved in what I’m learning that it changes who I am. For example, when I started learning about the environment, to really learn about things I didn’t know—I needed to know more, so I ended up going back to grad school in my mid-fifties.

I’m in a time of transition. I wrote about that today on my blog, The Apples in My Orchard. I’ve known this for some time and I’ve done a lot of thinking about it. I’ve even written about finding new hobbies and essentially some new purpose.

So last night, I painted my first watercolor painting. It was a goldfinch sitting on coneflowers. The whole process was satisfying and relaxing. A new hobby is born.
