I was at the ophthalmologist’s office for a routine eye exam. No one enjoys having their pupils dilated, but it is a necessary evil.
When the doctor shines a light into your eyes to examine them, dilating eye drops enlarge your pupils and prevent them from contracting.
The technician apologized for the eye drops he had to put in my eyes. He then went on to remark how lucky I was to have brown eyes.
Apparently, it takes longer for your pupils to dilate if you have brown eyes than light ones. However, the pupils of those with brown eyes return to normal faster after dilation than those with light eyes.
It struck me as an intriguing, amusing fact that no one had ever mentioned to me. Every day, you learn something new.
