“It’s cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey.” I thought of this today when I jumped into my pool to clean the not-so-automatic cleaner.

A common expression here in Australia meaning it’s pretty damn cold. But brass monkeys with balls? I always have a visual of those three monkeys. Hear no evil, See no evil, Speak no evil, all with brass balls.

There’s a theory that it’s nothing to do with monkeys at all — it’s how they stored cannonballs way back…

Wow! Did you notice that? It was your day flying by. This publication is your place to enjoy stories of 150 words or fewer about plants and people, wild animals and pets, gardens and food, how-to and how-not-to — written to inform and delight. Did I mention humor?
