Living Without a TV
My friends have never owned a television.
At first, this oddity surprised me. No binge-watching or keeping up with the latest shows for them, but their TV-free home offers perspective. Life goes on fine without the background noise of screens.
Their evenings are filled with conversation, reading, and hobbies instead of dazzling entertainment. Their imaginations flourish without plots crafted by others. Being TV-free forces engagement with the real people around you each day.
Kids play creatively, not hypnotised by cartoons. News comes from discussing events, not just consuming sound bites. While I still enjoy television in moderation, I now see its absence does not leave a void.
My friends’ family connects face-to-face, cultivates personal passions, and discovers entertainment within. I’ve learned TV is a luxury, not a necessity. The richness of life shines even without it.
