My daughter turns 27 today. How did that happen? I vividly recall the hours of torture she put me through to enter this world all those years ago.

My girlfriend and hubby laboured with me. I squeezed their hands as I battled the contractions without analgesia. My toes wiggled as the pain crescendoed before she finally slithered onto the bed.

Hannah Rose was perfect in every way — and still is. I’m incredibly proud of her courage and determination to fulfil a childhood dream to become a famous fashion designer. I never doubted her ability; it was more a fear of the industry itself that is known to chew up wannabes, dashing those hopes and dreams.

This is only the second birthday when we are not together celebrating. C’est la vie! She knows her mama is always a nano thought away.
