Minibike gangs
Give it up, tough guys
Bicycles are like motorcycles — there are different types.
There are 3-wheeled versions of both. The ultra-lightweight bicycles of professional cyclists are like Japanese racing motorcycles. Serviceable bicycles with baskets are like sturdy motorcycles with saddlebags.
Minibikes are the equivalents of BMX dirt bikes. They have small frames, extra wide tires, and are made for off-roading.
The other day, I passed a gang of six young men in their twenties riding down the road on minibikes. They were trying to look tough. Black leather jackets, heavy biker boots, the works. Riding teeny tiny minibikes.
I had flashbacks to all the parades I’d seen in which Shriners were zipping about on minibikes, their fez tassels bobbing in the breeze as they entertained the onlookers.
Sorry, boys, you just can’t look tough on minibikes. No one can.
