A local church had sponsored them in their escape from Iraq in the 1990s.

My friends brought many smiles and news of their children. They also brought food for my Easter meal. “For you. Here, for you. For Easter,” were the words encouraging me to accept the gifts.

I am fortunate to have friends, and family, of many faiths and cultures.

This Easter Sunday, I rejoice in the hope of the resurrection; that we are one in peace.
