My New Reading Journal
Experimenting with size
I desperately need to reread Natalie Goldberg’s Writing Down the Bones. In it, she breaks her best writing advice down into (I believe) over 100 actionable steps. One of my favorites is to experiment with size, lined/unlined, and types of binding.
It’s a concept that I’ve been using with my journaling practice as I’ve developed it this year. As I finish each notebook, I try something a bit different. Right now, my everyday notebook is quite small and unlined. I love how it doesn’t subtract from the creative elements I use.
However, for a reading journal lines are a must. I also wanted to experiment with using a larger size while still being creative.
