Rumors became a reality at midnight, as red flares of molten magma lit up the Summer’s night sky. This eruption is off to a mild start traveling only a few hundred yards.
There is no immediate threat to human life or buildings. It’s in a remote area Southwest of Pele’s main residence in Kilauea’s crater. We’re delighted to be upwind and far removed from the eruption site. 🥰🥰🥰
A similar eruption took place in the same location in December 1974. The flow only lasted six hours. We’ve just learned that this colorful display of magma has stopped. 😀🌈🍀Will the party resume? 🐒🙃💚
The volcanic gasses or sulfur dioxide SO2 are low and present no threat.
