When we lived in Yerington, NV, I decided I wanted a glass citrus juicer. My husband said, “Just go to Walmart and buy one.” I didn’t want to, mostly because the ones I’d seen at Walmart were plastic. I also wanted to find one, specifically at a thrift store.

Vintage glass citrus juicers can be found online for anywhere from $10 to $20. When my friend Pat and I went thrift shopping together, we found one, but it was huge. It was meant for grapefruits. I wanted a smaller one for oranges and lemons.

Soon enough, I found the perfect juicer for $2 in one of Yerington’s three thrift stores.

I’m glad that I didn’t make the 45-minute drive to Walmart when I found what I wanted so close to home.
