photo by me: feathers from Erie

My grandmother was one of the best cheerleaders and most compassionate people I knew.

After her passing in 2004, seeing feathers has been a subtle reminder of her. A sign she was thinking about the family. I can’t remember if we directly asked her for the sign or just began assuming.

Instead of being a publishing machine today, I went to the lake. I allowed myself to breathe, watch geese and reflect on the month that was June.

My mom wanted a photo at Perry Monument. When I got closer to the lake, I found these feathers.

Yes, there were a lot of birds. However, I still choose to believe that my grandma left me a clear message- I love you sweetie and I’m proud of you.

Thank you for reading my work today, -Rachella
