Coasters and canning jar cover made in 1992 from scrap fabric. Still in use. Katie Michelson. I have stacks of them. They're cotton and wash nicely.

Repurposing fabric is a simple practice that requires zero skill. All that’s needed is cleaning, cutting, sorting, and bundling.

Any type of fabric is suitable. I save old clothing and box up bundles for myself or sewing communities.

Basics

You will need good quality fabric scissors.
Clean and sort fabric according to material, colors, and designs.
Cut into desired shapes. 10" x 10" makes easy quilt squares.
Bundle by color, theme, and fabric weight.
Store for your project, charity, garage sale, or Esty store.

My tea today is lungwort grown in my garden. Lungwort is the first flower to bloom in the spring with charming purple and pink clusters.
