Female writer at work.

It’s a ghost town around here these days.

Many have become inactive or quit.

I’ve noticed a surge in subscribers from Medium to my Substack, Yana’s World.

People ask if I’m a freelance writer. No.

Why would I want to do that and have to constantly justify my income, unlike a lawyer who says, “I'm a lawyer,” and everyone nods? Also, I’m not interested in questions like, “What’s the point of writing when AI can do the job for you?”

I write not because of the money — although I’m grateful for it — but for the intangible rewards: my love of writing, the therapy it provides, and the friendships I’ve built.

With things slowing down here, I’ve been focused on restarting the romance novella I shelved a year ago. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do.

That’s my writing whys. What’s yours?

❣️CHOOSING ME FIRST!❣️
