The Day Kindness Smiled At Us
Yesterday, I was reminded that there are good people in the world.
We were at the park with my brother and his family. My little nephew was sitting on the grass. I noticed a dog nearby and felt a flicker of worry. The owner caught it straight away and said, whilst smiling, “Don’t worry. My dog loves children. I’ve got a grandson too. He probably thinks your boy is my grandson.” His empathy reassured me completely.
Then, shortly after, two young men walked up to my brother. One of them grinned, “Hi, bro,” and gave him a casual high-five. I watched, puzzled, and asked my brother if he knew them. He laughed and said, “No.” I said, “Oh,” in surprise.
Sometimes, kindness lands when you least expect it — in a stranger’s comforting smile, an unexpected warm greeting, and the quiet ways the world shows it still cares.
