This drawing by my son caught my attention today scrolling through my google photos.

Sketch by Author’s son, James

Five words.

When joined in this simple sentence, they are thought-provoking. Throw in his cute little sketch and those words become incredibly eloquent and powerful.

The way he drew those little legs dangling speaks volumes.

We often keep our own head just above water — sometimes outwardly feigning normalcy but inside screaming for help.

We typically become so entwined in our own lives that we fail to notice when a friend is in need. Work dominates our days. Well-meaning actions deferred.

As we emerge from Covid hibernation, some may not have fared so well from extended isolation. Hidden away, fighting their own demons, they resurface broken and scarred.

Their internal wounds bleeding; raw.

Their pride extinguished.
