This ‘Queen’ Elevates Your Garden Into a Dazzling Kingdom
Commonly known — Queen’s Wreath/Sandpaper Vine/Petrea Volubilis
This royal highness is spectacular in the sun. They welcome visitors like a gallant knight bowing chivalrously at entrances.
You will find their violet star-shaped flowers resplendent in clusters of almost foot-long, as they drape like garlands around its sandpaper vine and leaves.
They are happiest in full sun and flourish in fertile, well-drained soils of the tropics; blooming several times a year. Often seen curving around trellis, arbor, pergola, or high walls.
Her majesty flowers are short-lived but to keep the monarchy alive, the violet calyces-chambers are ordered to remain after the flowers have dropped.
While they are not into colonization or destruction, seeds are difficult to germinate; often needing about 1–2 months to succeed.
