So sweet, juicy and tart bought fresh from a home grower

Think you know the seedy truth?

The botanists and nutritionists are still scuffling over this. The late great Michael Mosley declared them as ‘the world’s favoured fruit’ back in 2017. It went all the way to the supreme court in 1893 when Mr Justice Grey argued that tomatoes should be classed as vegetables despite their fruity features such as seeds in a pulpy centre.

Don’t pick sides, pick up a punnet

A home grower sells beautiful cherry toms on a cart with an honesty box in our village. An impulse purchase on a walk. Just sixty pence for a full punnet. They tasted like the best of the last days of summer. Sweet, warm, and gone too soon. Gone before I reached home in fact.
