An easy way to show yourself some self-love
I recently came across my son’s photo reciting a nursery rhyme as a toddler. 10 little fingers, ten little toes… touching each one as he sang and clapped after each line.
What if we looked at this a bit differently, did this as adults gently, with love, and then clap, clap to celebrate our bodies, feel a sense of belonging and pride?
According to research, touch releases oxytocin, building a connection between two people. But why not offer ourselves the tenderness of our own touch, wishing ourselves wellness gratefully?
Sure, we touch our skin to shower, moisturize, and comb hair.
But when was the last time you touched your forehead like Mom soothing child? Gave your shoulder a friendly squeeze? Rubbed your feet lovingly?
Try it. Hug yourself tight. See how you feel.
