On July 13, Montréal was battered by a series of back-to-back storms that initiated tornado warnings and emergency alerts. You can read about my eyewitness account of the ferocious events on that day.

According to a meteorological report, 38.6 mm — or 1.5 inches — fell at the airport in a couple of hours. Information from the local newspaper suggests an udometer at McGill University recorded almost 85 mm of precipitation — 3.3 inches — in the downtown core.

Ironically, this word cropped up on my calendar today when I’d never heard of it before, and it had pertinence to recent events.

Should I start peeking ahead to see what words are in the pipeline to anticipate the future?
