Unexpected Good Deeds are the Best
Grateful for the workers who otherwise go unnoticed
As part of the dog-walk routine, I pick up after my dog. I’ve always found it awkward to hold the leash in one hand and a bag of poop in the other.
On one of my walks, I was on the phone with AirPods in my ears. A garbage truck backed into a driveway in front of me, and the guy hanging behind the truck said something to me. With the noise of the truck and my earbuds, I couldn’t hear him at first.
When I removed my earbuds, I realized he wanted me to dispose of the poop bag in the truck. He was observant enough to notice the bag and offered help.
He left me with a smile and made me realize the important work that people like him do that goes unnoticed.
It was a simple gesture with a lasting effect.
