Of the unnatural kind
Once settled in I carefully hand out the water bottles, then request the aspirin from officer Davis.
I act as if opening Jaclyn’s water for the first time and wink at Angela as a heads-up. At first, she mistakes it for an advance and looks away. I ask her to hold Jaclyn’s water and aspirin while I wake her, then wink again.
She understands I’m putting something in motion but isn’t clear on what it is.
I take a long drink of my water and then attempt to wake Jacklyn.
“Jac, hey Jaclyn, I’d like you to take some aspirin, you have a bad fever.”
After a short time, she is conscious enough to comply, then she lays back down without incident.
Angela shrugs her shoulders as I double-check water bottles.
All is calm for fifteen minutes or so.
