Yeah about that. The classical poet Su Shi loved meat. So much so a dish of meat (Dongpo Pork) bears his art name, to-date. He continued,

Meatless makes one thin, bamboo-less makes one vulgar.
Thinness can be cured, for vulgarity there’s no remedy.
Others laugh at this, is it nobility or idiocy?

無肉令人瘦,無竹令人俗。

人瘦尚可肥,士俗不可醫。

旁人笑此言,似高還似痴。(蘇軾)

Make no mistake. He was a culinary pro. Notwithstanding the noble bamboo.

The Modern Culinary Pro

Climate Change reports nudge us every day to cut back on meat. Yet humans are not born herbivores. Even Buddha recommended meat broth as a cure for some illnesses.

Greenpeace (unaffiliated) advocates 300g of meat a week per person by 2050. Doable? Pescatarians can still have fish. And the elegant bamboo will live for a greener earth.

What’s not to like?
