What’s In a Nickname?
Karen Schwartz’s post made me laugh. Oh, the nicknames I’ve been called that have stuck over the years!
Memorable and active ones are:
- Bunny. Bestowed on me by my BFF, thanks to a misspelling of my name. Funny thing is, others assumed it was for a different reason — the shapely Playboy Bunny. Ha!
- Lucy. When the show aired on TV back in the 80s, everyone thought I was just like her. Always cheerful, funny. Nice!
- Vids or V. My schoolmates. One calls me Viddy or Viddu. Ugh! I try to squash it. Unsuccessfully. 🤨 Like Lady Macbeth washing her hands.
- Viddukutty. My grandma. Loved it. Kutty = little one.
- Theo. My uncle. Long story. Badge of honor.
Now, most people call me Vidzy.
My favorite? “Mom” — because of the caller. 🥰
