Wine Snobbery: What Difference Does A Glass Make?

I enjoy a glass of wine. One glass, on most days at dinner time. I am not particular about my glass matching my type of wine. I can drink my Cabernet in a narrower glass and my Chardonnay in a wider bowl type of wine glass.

True wine aficionados will tell you the type of glass does matter. It matters in letting the wine “breathe” and lets you sniff the aroma produced by swirling — at least I think those are the reasons — I just made them up with common sense.

But, where I put my foot down is that the glass must be glass — not plastic. From experience, I’ve found out that I do not like to drink wine out of a plastic glass, even if it is shaped like a wine glass.

Plastic just doesn’t do it for me!
