Seventh Chapter — As Carl entered the police parking lot, he noticed there were few cruisers. Even the station was quiet. So it must be a busy night.
“Can I help you,” Office Grady asked?
“Help, this man’s wife is missing,” Sienna said. The plan was in motion — Carl would stay composed while Sienna acted on his behalf.
“I’ve seen this tattoo before,” Grady mused. “At Garth’s.”
That’s his wife. Katie. She’s the woman who’s missing.”
“Are you two sisters?”
“Hardly, I don’t even know her. You go in for an original, and you come out with a thorny rose.”
“When did you last see her, Carl?”
“I kissed her this morning before work. When I got home, she was gone. Sienna was there instead.”
“Home. Gone. Replacement wife. Sounds familiar.”
“Sienna, do I know you?” Grady asked.
“No.” Sienna shook her head. “But you may know his daughter.”
