EXCLUSIVE: Milo is back
The conservative media personality announced his return at his Cinco de Milo extravaganza
Milo Yiannopoulos is back. With a snake draped over his shoulders and strippers lined up behind him, the former Breitbart editor descended the stairs of his Meme Mansion in true Milo fashion to announce his new ventures: a publishing company called Dangerous Books, a new speaking tour titled Troll Academy, and an all encompassing media company named Milo Inc.
“Welcome to Cinco de Milo,” he declared, before briefly addressing the controversy that sent him into a self-imposed and uncharacteristic exile. Or so it seemed. In fact, Yiannopoulos’ time away from the media was anything but an exile. Rather, it marked the beginning of a new era for Yiannopoulos.
“Now you may have heard that I made a couple of phone calls after all that happened, after I’d been sufficiently contrite for a while. And you may have heard that I have raised twelve million dollars.” — Yiannopoulos on his efforts since the controversy that lost him his keynote speech at CPAC and his book deal.
In the aftermath of the controversy that resulted in his resignation from Breitbart and the termination of his book deal from publisher Simon & Schuster, Yiannopoulos has raised $12 million for his new projects.
“I am dedicated to the destruction of political correctness.” Yiannopoulos declared to his Cinco de Milo guests and supporters. “I believe you should be able to do, say, and be anything!”
Statements like these have come to define Yiannopoulos and his career. No idea better represents Yiannopoulos than that of free speech and free expression.
Yiannopoulos went on to add that he would be suing his former publisher Simon & Schuster for $10 million after they cancelled his book, Dangerous. The book will be released next week under his new imprint, Dangerous Books. He also announced plans to recruit other authors to the imprint and added that everyone in attendance would receive a free copy of his book.
“I am going to take not just all of [Simon & Schuster’s] best authors but all of the best authors of all of the conservative imprints in this country and launch my own imprint called Dangerous Books. We are going to publish every mischievous, dissident, hellraising guy you have ever heard of…We’re going to be going live in the next seven days.”
Lastly, Yiannopoulos wrapped up his remarks by announcing his upcoming student and commercial speaking tour titled, Troll Academy. Applications for the tour open next week. He also spoke publicly for the first time about his “Free Speech Week” at UC Berkeley planned for the fall. Yiannopoulos had previously touted the event on social media. He warned that should administration officials at Berkeley not comply, he would extend the length of the event to an entire month.
“I am going to spend the next year making the name Simon & Schuster synonymous with censorship” — Yiannopoulos on his former publisher
After his remarks, the Cinco de Milo celebration raged on with Yiannopoulos himself partying with his most ardent supporters. Yiannopoulos and his team will surely feel the event was a success after he was able to attract a mixed crowd that included supporters, media, and politicos, perhaps none more notable than political advisor and longtime advisor to the President, Roger Stone Jr.
At the end of the evening, one thing above all was clear: the King of Free Speech and College Campuses is back, and he is here to stay.
