In Miami, the rain is not just a rain, it is the rain of Miami. It is the sound of a thousand drums. It is universal flood level of water. It is as if the sky has opened up and poured out its contents on the city below it. But if you wait, just a few minutes, it will stop. Rarely someone in Miami carries an umbrella, and most resort for the quick dash from a building to the car.

Then there is Seattle rain. Relentless, falling down all day, every day. You can’t escape from it no matter what you do. Of course, Seattleites see it a bit differently, it can be a source of inspiration for some, and it can (and has) be used to create art, music, and poetry. But Seattleites are also well prepared, and it is rare that rain catches them without a jacket, you’ll see them wearing them even indoors.

Most circumstances in life are either like Seattle’s or Miami’s rain. They are either temporary, or they are just there to stay.

In the first case, the best strategy is to hunker down. “This too shall pass”.

In the second case, you adapt. You assume “it is what it is”. And sometimes, you may even use it to your advantage.

The trick is to know which type of rain are you facing.
