Diversity: On which axis? — The Daily PPILL #40

Diversity: On which axis? — The Daily PPILL #40

We hear a lot about diversity, and the visibility we are giving to this issue is certainly an improvement over what we had before.

But we have decided to look -in the best case- only at the diversity axis mentioned in The Constitution: Gender, Race, and National Origin. And this last one is kind of neglected as well.

This means that we measure diversity on three axes. To be truly inclusive, maybe we should start thinking in terms of what other axis may be out there measuring the human condition -if that can be done at all- and then decide which ones are uncompromisable for a specific role.

How overweight is a person? Where do they sit on the autism spectrum? How old are they? What type of Myers Briggs personality have? So many axes. Then, on the other side, we probably want to tighten down job qualifications. We want the top ones.

Which axis does matter? and Which axis cannot be compromised?
