Where Were You, God?
An unbearable ending to a child’s pain.

A week ago, an Illinois couple, Joann Cunningham, 36 and Andrew Freund Sr., 60 reported their five-year-old son, Andrew “AJ” Freund, missing.
The little boy’s father told the police that he arrived home from a morning doctor’s appointment, went to check on AJ to say “good morning,” and “he wasn’t there.”
The couple told authorities that the last time they saw their son was at bedtime the night before.
Where were you, God, when AJ was born, the product of two monsters? Born with opiates in his body and without a chance in Hell of a decent life. If only you had taken him then. If only.
As it turns out, AJ wasn’t “missing.” The little boy was murdered. Savagely. His body was found a few miles from his home in Crystal Lake. The suburb is about fifty miles northwest of Chicago.
AJ was dumped, his frail body wrapped in plastic, in a shallow grave in Woodstock, Illinois.
Where were you God, while AJ’s mother and father, those very people who were supposed to love and protect him — carried out this “stuff of nightmares?”
