Last year’s 4/20 festivities at Golden Gate Park

The 15 Collectives in The Meadow Guide! Plenty for a great day of dispensary hopping.

SOMA

SOMA is like the epicenter of weed in SF, with a higher concentration of dispensaries than any other neighborhood.

As you travel the streets of SOMA in search for the perfect medicine, we recommend scoping out Cavalier and Town Hall for a higher-end lunch or dinner.

For a quick bite of the non-medicated kind, check out Ted’s for their fantastic sandwiches, SoMa StrEat Food Park — home to abundant food trucks — and The Tempest, a dive bar serving up delicious food.

If you’re enjoying an energizing sativa as the night progresses, Monarch or Audio are great options for evening music and dancing.

SPARC

The well-designed exterior of SPARC

If you’re looking for a reliable, professional dispensary with a huge selection, SPARC is a great choice. The staff is professional and knowledgable, and won’t let you get overwhelmed by the big selection.

The vaping lounge offers volcanos, free organic tea, and other free member services like acupuncture and samplings.

We bought a CBD vape pen to lift our spirits and pain, and some Gorilla Glue.

Barbary Coast

The bar and knowledgable budtenders at Barbary Coast

At Barbary Coast you’ll feel more like you’re in a high end saloon than a cannabis shop. Sumptuous leather couches and barstools are great places to peruse the artfully crafted extensive leather-bound menu. You almost forget that this space was once home to the kink.com, which we guess is why the leather makes so much sense.

The vibe is just right: hip hop music, beautiful rugs and rich mahogany compliment the wide selection of cannabis strains, concentrates, edibles, topicals, vaporizers, sublinguals and accessories.

We loved smelling the Kurupt Moonrocks and Caviar Gold, which we took home to try. Hint: don’t roll a joint with them unless you’re washing your hands after, they’re sticky!

  • 4/20 event programming and specials: Barbary Coast will have gram, quarter and ounce flower specials. The first 100 patients will receive a special gift. The next 200, 220th and 420th patients will receive a gift. Demos with free samples are scheduled all day, including: Yerba Buena Farms, Glowing Buddha Chocolates, Caviar Gold, Alchemy by Dark Heart, Mother Humboldt’s Balm, Madame Munchie, MediCone, Qualitech “Drink your Dabs,” Kushy Punch, Big Pete’s Treats, Kiva Confections, Gold Drop Concentrates, Triple J minis, & more!

SFFOGG

Products line the back wall of SFFOGG

SFFOGG is a small, intimate, mom and pop shop with a friendly local vibe. A local tattoo artist designed their logo, t-shirts and artwork displayed in the collective.

We loved that they do “Rolling Wednesday” every week, with free joints featuring Madrone flower.

  • 4/20 event programming and specials: Every patient will walk away with a gift bag. VIP patients will get the same bag plus special items. SFFOGG will have a huge sale on flowers & concentrates. The Lumpia Co. will be at SFFOGG serving artisanal Filipino egg rolls from 11–4pm.

Releaf Herbal Cooperative

One of the many displays at Releaf

Releaf’s tight-knit community immediately made us feel at home. The budtenders knew patients by name and the open flame lounge was buzzing with collective members. Blunts are allowed in the lounge, making this one the most unique collectives in San Francisco.

Releaf has a large selection of flower, cartridges, and makes their own edibles and vape pen cartridges. We tried the Red Dragon by Madrone at the recommendation of our budtender and were not disappointed.

  • 4/20 event programming and specials: Free samples, low prices and giveaways. Demos from Irish Moss, THC Bomb Chips, Extractavis, Glowing Buddha and more.

Bloom Room

A view to the waiting room at Bloom Room

Tucked away on a rare quiet block, the Bloom Room is the perfect respite from the nearby commotion of Union Square and SOMA.

Plants and chill surf-style music floated above us as we waited in the intake room and took in artwork created by a local artist. Once through, we were overjoyed to see glass jars of flower on the counter that we could pick up and smell. Our favorite was the Durban Poison, one of Bloom Room’s most popular strains.

The employees were all exceptionally nice. And if you want to get in some House of Cards or Love, there’s a TV with Netflix in the vape lounge for patients to enjoy.

  • 4/20 event programming and specials: Bloom Room will have great deals all week long plus a huge event planned for 4/20. 4/20 is Patient Appreciation Day at Bloom Room and they will have a week of specials and discounts. Starting on 4/14 all daily deals will be available everyday of the week. On 4/20 there will be additional deals like $25 Eighths, $10 off select flowers and concentrates, and a free gift bag with purchase. The Bloom Room is going to be popping off all day long on 4/20. Several of their best edible and concentrate partners will be giving away edibles and patients will be able to sample dabs. Plus, they’ll have a setlist of DJ’s spinning live on the dispensary floor.

Igzactly 420

Ample strains and products at Igzactly 420

Igzactly 420 has one of the best selections of product we’ve seen — from flower to vape pens to concentrates. Their reasonable prices and friendly budtenders are reason enough to visit. Plus, we loved the free t-shirts you get with your donation.

Igzactly 420 also offers complimentary holistic healing services on a weekly basis, like Chair Massages, Reiki, and Sound Therapy, and have a rotating art gallery to showcase patient’s work.

Mission

If you’re looking for great food, shopping and bars on 4/20 then look no further than the Mission.

Here are a few local gems we recommend: Dolores Park, Four Barrel Coffee, Little Star Pizza for amazing deep dish, Bar Tartine or Foreign Cinema for a fancy meal, Monk’s Kettle for delicious food and beer, Trick Dog if you’re in the mood for a well crafted cocktail, Zeitgeist for delicious beer, and Mission Bowling or Urban Putt if you’re looking to get in a game of bowling or minigolf. And don’t forget about the abundant shopping on Valencia street.

The Green Cross

The counter at The Green Cross

The Green Cross is a must visit collective. It not only felt like a mix of a hip club and a W Hotel, but they had the widest selection of in-house products we saw—including tinctures, capsules, balms, agave, lip balms, olive oil, edibles, teas, and concentrates.

If that’s not enough, the Dr. Seuss artwork that adorns the walls will help put you in a playful mood on 4/20.

A head’s up that if you don’t have a CA ID, this collective requires two documents serving as proof of residency.

  • 4/20 event programming and specials: The Green Cross is offering a raffle contest for every $50 spent at store or delivery service on 4/20. Members will be entered for a chance to win up to three fantastic prizes: a SKY Bong, Cheech & Chong tickets and a PAX 2 Vaporizer. All patients who visit the storefront will get a chance to spin a prize wheel to win an assortment of Green Cross goodies (it’s a guaranteed win).

  • Delivery: Yes
  • First time patient deal: All new members of The Green Cross receive a New Patient Packet, which includes a complimentary sticker, lapel pin, lighter, papers and doob tube, as well as a free IncrediMeds edible of their choosing.
  • Discounts available for: Veterans, Seniors, Disabled

Medithrive

A display case at Medithrive featuring top shelf flower

This newly reopened dispensary offers a high-end shopping experience right off Mission street. Top shelf flower is displayed in jewelry-style glass dome cases, and each strain writeup lists treatments, making it easy to choose strains based on your symptoms.

Medithrive carries a wide range of products, including Gold Drop Medicated Cannabis Honey and the full line of Om Edibles epsom salt mineral soaks. We opted for the Strawberry Banana flower from Cooks Canna.

The Cookie Co. 415

The interior of The Cookie Co. 415

We weren’t able to visit The Cookie Co. 415 since they required a CA ID, but here’s some useful information:

  • 4/20 event programming and specials: Gorilla Glue #9 will be $10/gram and $35 for 1/8th. There will be samplings and door gifts.
  • Hours: 10–10 everyday
  • Phone Number: 415–814–2890

Castro

The vibrant Castro is a fantastic place to spend your 4/20. With options like Hot Cookie — which sells cookies and underwear — and 24 hour diner Orphan Andy’s, you may not want to leave the neighborhood. We love Brewcade for the video games and delicious beer, and Blackbird for its artisanal cocktails.

And don’t miss Marcello’s pizza, which happens to be located at 420 Castro street, and opens at 4:20 Monday through Friday.

If you love watching movies about nature while medicating, check out the SF Green Film Festival happening on 4/20 at the Castro Theater.

The Apothecarium

A budtender services a patient at Apothecarium

The Apothecarium oozes class: from the chandelier and beautiful wallpaper to the comfortable intake and easy to read menus. You’ll feel like you’re in a high-end boutique, and the vast product selection and knowledgable budtenders won’t disappoint.

Its central location at the intersection of Duboce Triangle, The Castro and The Mission makes this the perfect option for your jumping off point on 4/20.

  • 4/20 event programming and specials: Free “toke” bag filled with samples and swag for the first 100 patients to make a purchase. Free edible or preroll with every purchase. Entry into a raffle with every purchase. With every $150 purchase entry into a raffle for the grand prize & patients will receive a free limited edition t-shirt. Buy 4 concentrates receive 20% off all four. Valhalla demo from 10–12, Kiva demo from 12:30–2:30, and Rx Oil demo from 3:00–5:00.

  • Loyalty Program: $55 credit for every 800 points earned.
  • Discounts available for: Veterans, Seniors, Industry.

Nob Hill

Though a less traditional choice for 4/20, Nob Hill is home to plenty of fantastic restaurants to appease your munchies. Check out: Rusty’s Southern; Tommy’s Joynt — an SF classic; Victor’s Pizza; Olivos; Jane on Larkin for coffee; and of course Mr Holmes Bakehouse, home of the Cruffin.

We also recommend Cinch, Polk street’s last remaining gay bar and a piece of SF history.

Grass Roots

The inside of Grass Roots is all class

Step into Grass Roots and you’ll feel like you’re in a saloon from the 1850s — bar stools, filament lanterns, beautiful chairs. We loved the ornate velvet embossed wallpaper and stand-out leather menus.

Be sure to try Grass Roots’ in-house brand of edibles and extracts, and house-grown flower.

  • 4/20 event programming and specials: Huge discounts on oils, flowers, extracts, edibles and more. Tons of samples and edible goodies from The Baykery. All Absolute Extracts cartridges are marked down from $35 to $25 for the 20 days leading up to 4/20. Tons of gift bags, free swag, in-store raffles and surprises at every turn.
  • Hours: 8am-10pm everyday

Financial District

If you have the day off on 4/20, we recommend you enjoy the many sites of the Embarcadero. Strap on your best pair of elastic waistband pants and eat your way through the Ferry Building, gorge on oysters at Hog Island Oyster Co or stop by Market Bar.

And if that wasn’t enough, you can enjoy the Exploratorium — a hands on science and art museum, or just walk along the Embarcadero and chase/hug seagulls.

2ONE2 California Street Dispensary

This newly-opened dispensary in the Financial District felt like a high end jewelry store, where budtenders dispensed carefully curated products from behind a U shaped white counter.

2ONE2 offers patients a healthy alternative, with no petroleum solvents, no butane, and no alcohol used in any concentrates they sell. Try their high end medicated cremes and exclusive vape cartridges.

NOPA

NOPA is home to some of the best food in the city and is in close proximity to lower Haight if you decide to enjoy a more traditional 4/20.

Grab a seat on the lawn at Alamo Square park in the afternoon, then head to one of the many culinary bastions of Divisadero. We love Club Waziema for its dive bar vibe and great Ethiopian food, Nopa for everything on their menu (grab a reservation soon or a spot at the bar), and The Page bar.

If you’re close to Golden Gate Park but want to avoid the crowds of Hippie Hill, walk through the park to the de Young Museum. Not only is there an incredible Oscar de la Renta exhibit, but you can go into to the Hamon Observation tower and take in a unique view of the city for free.

Also enjoy the gardens and sculptures between the de Young and the Academy of Arts and Sciences. And if you’re a flower child check out the Conservatory of Flowers to connect with nature in the oldest wood-and-glass public conservatory in North America.

BASA

BASA is a dispensary for the people: it’s been operating for 13 years and offers great prices for quality medical cannabis. Its location off of Divisadero makes it a great option if you’re in NoPa or Haight, and their parking lot is a huge added perk if you’re driving in.

  • 4/20 event programming and specials: $50 Dollar Eighths for $35.
  • Hours: 8:30am–10pm Mon-Fri, 9am–10pm Sat, 10am–9pm Sun
  • Phone Number: (415) 409–1002
  • Website: http://www.trybasa.com/

  • Years Open: 13
  • Payment: Cash, Credit on Delivery
  • Delivery: Yes — get it here
  • First time patient deal: Yes, only for Delivery orders.

Ingleside

We’ll admit it: we had never been to Ingleside. Though out of the way for us northern SF folk, we loved checking out the eclectic vibe of Ocean Avenue.

The neighborhood features a lovely mix of students — the City College of San Francisco is located on Ocean Ave — and families. So if you want to escape the 4/20 crowds, this hood is a great bet.

Ingleside is one of the more diverse neighborhoods of SF, which means there are tons of dining options to pair with your cannabis selection, including Beep’s Burgers, 5 Sweets and Pho Ha Tien.

Once you’ve had your fill of food, lounge around Balboa Park or be at the gigantic sundial sculpture when the clock hits 4:20 (a warning that it doesn’t quite work during daylight savings time so make sure to have your cellphone or watch handy).

1944 Ocean Cooperative

One of the friendly budtenders at 1944 Ocean shows off their concentrates

Boy, did we have fun visiting 1944 Ocean. Once we got through patient intake and into the interior room, we were greeted by a tight-knit crew of knowledgable budtenders. They let us smell the flower selection and were happy to take out any products we wanted to see.

While 1944 had a great selection of flower, tinctures and edibles, the concentrates selection was one of the best we saw.

  • 4/20 event programming and specials: 3pm-5pm taco food truck. Free samples of edibles and volcano vaporizer flowers.

Waterfall Wellness

We couldn’t get in to Waterfall Wellness because they only take CA licenses or ID cards, but here’s some useful information about the Collective.
