The Goals for the Future

The United Nations Paris Agreement on climate actions is at the forefront of the world attempting to undo the bad that has been done. It is a large organization of nations across the globe that have a common goal to achieve, which is saving the world from the destruction that people have exerted onto it. The author Peter Lysiak (2020) talks about the goals that the Paris Agreement is trying to achieve. One of the big goals being that we want to see “what a carbon neutral planet would be like” (para. 2).

The Carbon emissions that are being produced from the burning of fossil fuels such as from gas powered cars, the burning of coal, commercial flights, etc. are devastating our environment. However, switching to alternative kinds of energy will pave the way for making the world a carbon neutral one which will be a lot cleaner and healthier for all beings to live in. One line that Peter (2020) states in his article is “The world will be a safer, healthier and more stable place to live. Everyone should progress so that the world can hit its goal” (para. 7).

I would have to say that asking for people to help comply with helping the environment and to clean up the world is very reasonable. If the world gets desecrated by the environments destruction, nothing else at that point would end up mattering because the only concern would be about surviving.

Yes it will take a long time to change, which was also outlined in the article. Peter (2020) speaks about how the Paris Agreement will attempt to make the world carbon neutral by the year 2050 (para. 3). This will be plenty of time to make changes and to figure out alternatives for concerns that doing this would affect.

One major concern that would affect movement of this plan to get the world carbon neutral is jobs. People would lose jobs in the industries of energy as a result. Peter (2020) also outlined how “…the switch of energy sources would be a substitution in jobs” (para. 6). This is a very good point. Once the main energy sources that are required are switched away from fossil fuels, it will be all hands on deck in order to operate all of the new systems. Many jobs will end up being created, and the demand for jobs in the new energy industry would be needed.

If there is not a world in which we can live a fair life on, where we can live happily and in a clean environment, it is not a place worth living. If there are not significant changes made soon, then there could be some major consequences over the horizon. If we all work together, and everybody is able to comply with one another, then we can make it work. There is only one Earth, might as well try and save it before it is too late.
