Welcome to this first post, introducing a series of posts titled ‘This Week in Data Preparation’. These posts intend to capture ongoing developments in the data preparation market. The main focus is on company news, products, and opinions related to data preparation, a process sometimes referred to as data wrangling or data prep, and involves all steps associated with bringing data to a state that is fit for analysis. Topics of interest also include processes that are part of data preparation, such as data discovery, data cleaning and data integration.

A new Data preparation platform is launched by 7Park Data.

An acquisition was also announced: DataRobot acquires Paxata, one of the first self-service data preparation vendors.

Three data preparation software market reports are out this week, by Pioneer Reports, by AEResearch, and by Orbis Research, all available for a fee. The common message appears to be that the market is expected to gain momentum and grow significantly in the following years.
