”Democratize your data,” says Jim Goodnight, CEO at SAS, “it needs to meet the right people”. Goodnight was keen to point out that the drive towards data democratization did not mean de-skilling any part of data science. In fact, the ability for a wider range of individuals to produce powerful visualizations and analytics would enhance their ability to add real value to their own work.

Free class teaches Python data wrangling. Students who have some familiarity with Python can attend a free four-day course in July on the use of data manipulation with Python. The “Data Wrangling with Python Bootcamp” is being taught by an instructor from Data Society, a company that does corporate data science training, and hosted by Skillsoft, which maintains a learning platform.

Informatica acquires Compact Solutions to extend industry leading enterprise data catalog. “In today’s environment, companies are being forced to achieve digital transformation far faster than they ever planned or anticipated. As such, Chief Data Officers need AI-powered data governance tools to simplify the entire process of managing, cataloging and governing data so they can be successful,” said Amit Walia, CEO of Informatica.

OneTrust acquires Seattle AI startup Integris Software. Atlanta-based privacy unicorn startup OneTrust acquired Integris Software, a Seattle-based startup. Integris Software’s AI technology will be used to enhance OneTrust’s DataDiscovery product. “Our customers have encouraged us to continue to lead the market with innovation in automated data discovery capabilities,” said Kabir Barday, OneTrust CEO and Fellow of Information Privacy. “We’ve worked hard over the last few months to seamlessly bring the technologies together,” said Kristina Bergman, founder and CEO of Integris Software.

dotData and Teradata announce partnership. The integration leverages the robust enterprise data management and analytic capabilities of Teradata’s Vantage platform and dotData’s autoML 2.0 platform to create a powerful end-to-end data science solution, from data collection and preparation through feature engineering to machine learning operationalization.

Databricks contributes MLflow Machine Learning platform to The Linux Foundation. The announcement was made by Matei Zaharia, the creator of Apache Spark and MLflow projects, in his keynote presentation at the recent Spark AI Summit 2020 Conference which was held as a global virtual event.

Adverity now available in the Microsoft Azure Marketplace. “We aim to simplify marketing data integration for businesses so they can spend more time actioning and benefiting from data insight, and less time collecting, harmonising and analysing reams of information.” commented Alexander Igelsböck, CEO at Adverity.

Acciona unveils key data platform for water network maintenance. A cloud-based data intelligence platform, BIONS integrates several sources to provide value-intelligence to the business and improve the management of the water supply system through water efficiency. “It offers a comprehensive in depth vision of the service and the water supply network as well as the health of the network itself,” remarked Julio Ratia, the Middle East Director (Operation and Managment) for Water Solutions at Acciona.

Yellowbrick Data brings Petabyte-Scale to hybrid cloud data warehouses. The PB-enabled capability aims to extend enterprise infrastructure for growing workloads and is available on Yellowbrick’s new hybrid data warehouse 3-chassis configuration, according to Nick Cox, head of product at Yellowbrick.
