Continuation…

My beloved New York City. For some of us every single thing we do, every single road we walk on, leads us back to the page. This is why we read. It is also why we go out and savor the world. With time we learn to do away with the illusions brought on by comparison and concentrate more on the world through the lens of experience. So much to choose from, to be sure.

“If you say…that we cannot be in love with everyone at once, I merely point out to you that, as a matter of fact, certain persons do exist with all enormous capacity for friendship and for taking delight in other people’s lives; and that such persons know more of truth than if hearts were not so big.” — William James

Only open your mouth if what you are going to say is more beautiful than silence.

“To begin the practice of love we must slow down and be still enough to bear witness in the present moment. If we accept that love is a combination of care, commitment, knowledge, responsibility, respect, and trust, we can then be guided by this understanding. We can use these skillful means as a map in our daily life to determine right action.” — bell hooks

“The only way to deal with an unfree world is to become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion.” — Albert Camus

Time feels different the older you become. You realize how to take care of your body — what you feed it, the music and other arts you consume, and exercise — determines how you look at the world and what you will be able to do to participate. Health is key. The choices we make are based on the discipline we develop, measured alongside what we want to accomplish.

The story continues…

You were put on this earth to do something absolutely no one else can do—be yourself.
