Writing on Medium is a great way to share your own interesting experiences with the world, and articles can be on whatever you wish. This is a great experience for keen journalists who want a platform to post their works, or for the ‘just for fun’ writers who have something to share! These guidelines are a great place to start for how and what to write…

Articles should be submitted with an image (at least 1000 px) at the top of the page or just below the title line. You must credit the source even if it’s you! Ensure that all titles are properly capitalised with no punctuation.

There is room for 5 tags to accompany each article. These should include: Linguistics, University of Kent, and three more of your choice that relate to the article.

Each submission should be around 700–1200 words, which should take around 3–6 minutes to read. (Shorter stories are more popular.)

Submissions must be content that is previously unpublished and should be submitted in draft form first.

Each story must be submitted in good time before its publishing date, if this has been previously determined.

Editors should review and offer suggestions/corrections of the writing once the article is complete according to the editing guidelines.

Bylines can be included beneath the title which can be converted into a link to your personal Medium profile page if you would like to do so.
