When talking about public relations, there’s no more important detail than how we’re perceived by the public. No matter the medium, whether it’s radio, television or newspaper every audience wants to be engaged. In terms of writing a successful news release for our organization I’d say that it can be broken down in a few easy steps. A news release should meet the criteria of a good story and will flow smoothly from there. What’s first and foremost is that the contact person’s name as well as the name of the organization are on the release along with their email address, phone number, and title. Secondly, you need to know your audience. Who you are writing too is incredibly important as it will shape how you form sentences and how you present information. And lastly, the message needs to be clear. Being able to put the whole message in a paragraph or a few lines can be extremely effective at getting the point across and will help people easily comprehend what you’re trying to say. If we make ourselves and the organization known, understand our audience and format a clear message then the new release is destined to be successful, it’s only a matter of how exactly people respond to it.
