Tom Clancy, regarded as the “Stan Lee” of the gaming world, is known for creating numerous iconic games, that have been critically acclaimed worldwide by the gaming community. The latest among them, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, is one of the finest tactical first person shooters that take the art of destruction and gadgetry to new heights. Hop on to check out the various features of this game, and what makes it so unique when compared to the rest of the competition.

A group of uniquely skilled heroes, called “operators”, from different counter-terrorist organisations across the world, has been handpicked by “SIX”, whose real credentials are unclear, to form a powerful team called RAINBOW. The name supposedly denotes the diversity of the operators, just like the colours in a rainbow. The Rainbow Team is meant to tackle extremely tense situations, posing threat levels beyond human imagination.

A direct analogy can be drawn to the MCU, where SIX is almost the counterpart of Nick Fury, but with a “more realistic” Avengers.

The basic content of Siege is a 5 versus 5 Team-Death-Match. Two teams (Blue and Orange) of five players each are introduced into one of the “maps”. Operators are basically divided into Attackers and Defenders. The Attacking team tries to infiltrate the map, using raw firepower combined with unique abilities. Defenders fortify the map and try to ward off attackers. The role is switched each round. The three modes of gameplay are Bomb, Hostage and Secure Area.

Another important feature of this game is breachable walls. Soft walls and barricades can be breached with normal breach charges, while a few special operators can breach reinforced walls. On the whole, using walls to create a line of sight, and then taking down the enemy is the soul of this game. Siege is at its most thrilling when you team up with your friends. Information is half the battle, so having teammates you can trust becomes a necessity to make all the right decisions. Victory in this game relies heavily on teamwork and strategy.

Initially, Siege wasn’t well received due to “lack of content”. As it turned out, people who were accustomed to the likes of Battlefield and Call of Duty, were just not ready yet to accept a new mode of gameplay. Latest reviews indicate that, Siege is one of those games that has zero repetitions. Each round is unique, whilst keeping the core gaming elements intact.

Tactics and methods of gameplay have been evolving at a tremendous rate among players across the globe. A particular technique becomes obsolete after a while, and someone comes up with something better.

Creativity is being pushed to its limits, unlike most games that does the same thing over and over again.

Talking about the quality of work, the game has been well optimized to use high-end graphics and detail to get the experience as realistic as possible. Textures on weapons have been rendered with unbelievable quality. From the basic design of the recoil pattern to the minute movement of the trigger and firing pin, every aspect seems carefully crafted. Furthermore, it has been rumoured that the game is being used by certain CTU’s to train their soldiers through simulated environment. Yes, that is the height of quality we are talking about.

Wrapping up, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege is one of those games that you won’t find everyday. Having crossed over 40 million players worldwide, it is simply the best tactical FPS you will get to play. Having kept a perfect balance between quantity and quality, Rainbow Six Siege is undoubtedly a classic of the new generation.
