Coloring my hair with coffee is something I’ve wanted to try out for the past two years, as more strands of gray hair started showing themselves to me in my mirror. I like it when they come in as a streak together, looking stylish and chic.

I’m not a fan of the random strand or two that have been showing up along the sides and top of my head. As someone who used to dye my hair regularly, I know how damaging dyes can be. I’ve also read up on commercial hair dye and learned that the chemicals can cause serious damage to our bodies through contact with our scalps as well.

My grandmother colored her hair red for decades without any harmful consequences to our knowledge, aside from brittle hair. It’s a risk I might take for more colorful locks later in life, but not at this point.

Henna has been suggested to me by quite a few people, but I do not want to deal with the potential staining of my clothes or pillowcases. Not yet, anyway. Coffee was one of the top choices I came across repeatedly while looking for natural ways to color my hair.
