Sexy GPT-4o and Why It Rubs Me the Wrong Way

Was curious to see the recent demo but it left me feeling more guarded than excited

My boyfriend is a cognitive scientist specializing in artificial intelligence, and asked me to watch a video with him last night that demonstrated the new ChatGPT-4o. I was curious to see it after he told me some things about it a few days ago.

He had already tried doing some of the things that were shown, such as asking ChatGPT-4o to use more emotion in her voice. It didn’t work. Apparently it will take a few more weeks to iron out some bugs. My boyfriend remains excited and optimistic while I become more skeptical and wary.

To his credit, he does have a degree of skepticism as well but the programmer in him is blown away by the progress he has seen in the field over the past few years, and how much it has helped make his job easier. It makes it a hell of a lot more fascinating too, by all the possibilities it opens up for the future.

However, one of the things that blew me away is the fact that the CTO of Open AI, Ermira “Mira” Murati, reminded me of Gal Gadot, the actress who stars in the latest Woman Woman films. At…
