Now that we’ve been together for over five years, this question is the one I’m asked the most, and it’s starting to annoy me

After the fifth person asked me, “So when are you getting married?” I realized that this is a real issue for the majority of my friends. It was a bit disconcerting. It hadn’t occurred to me that they cared that much about me getting married. It also made me wonder if they would react the same if I were male.

It’s been about a week since I returned from a tour de force visit to my hometown which is a big city near New York City. I saw around 12 friends and lots of family members within two weeks without any parties or major events being held.

My boyfriend and I live in Germany and have been living together in Europe for the past three years. When we first met, I still lived in America and he lived in Europe. My friends, family, and even some of my clients heard me talk about him and our blossoming love affair.

It’s truly one for the storybooks.
