Design Specialist, Kelly Miller, has been with the Corps since January 2015. She remembers the All Corps meetings as some of her favorite times; getting together with everyone in the same room and bonding.

“I love hearing about what all the teams are doing because generally there’s projects I’ve never heard of. You kind of get to see what is going on in all corners of the Corps.”

During her time with us, Kelly learned everything she knows about web design. She was surprised at just how much she appreciated learning to code.

“It’s something that I never thought I would enjoy until I really started getting into it at the Corps.”

Looking back, her favorite project with the Corps was My Voice, a collaboration for student driven change on campus in which students submitted ideas for change and later voted for their favorites. She thought it was really interesting to see the development of the project and its immersion onto campus.

Kelly has gained the ability of working with different teams with different specialties. Part of this has been learning how to communicate what she’s doing to someone who might not quite understand. She believes she will take these skills along with project management into her future career.

After graduation, she hopes to get a job in front end web development and design somewhere, although her dream job would actually be a little more print based.

“There is a company that prints photos on marshmallows and I think that would just be a really exciting company to design for. They’re called Boomph, they’re a London-based company.”

Kelly leaves her fellow Corps students with a couple words of advice .

“If there’s something you want to learn, do it while you’re at the Corps.”
