Even after working with the Corps for over a year, Design Team Specialist Rachael Walker still remembers the feeling of getting the email saying she got hired. It gave her reassurance that she has what it takes to be a professional designer.

Throughout her time with us, she has learned how to be confident in her own work and abilities. She also learned programs like After Effects and Brackets, which helped her accelerate and learn what she wanted to do.

Rachael thinks that these skills, along with the ability to pitch her ideas to clients will be useful in her future career.

“I definitely feel like I can take all the program knowledge that I have and apply it to any job because it will make me more of a diverse designer.”

Currently, she is looking for a postgraduate internship in Milan, Italy to work a few semesters on her work visa.

“Really after that, I just kind of want to end up in any major city. Hopefully it’s somewhere cool. Somewhere I’m doing what I want to do.”

Her dream job would involve more fine art than actual design work.

“I want to change the world with my designs. So that’s what I’m reaching for.”

Looking back, Rachael would tell her freshman self to be more of a go-getter and reach for the stars. She leaves us with a few final words.

“Thanks for making life difficult, Riley.”
