Scott Schapker, a Development Specialist, has been working at the Digital Corps for about two and a half years. Schapker says getting hired here is one of the best things that could have happened to him as a college sophomore.

The Corps presented an opportunity for Scott to gain experience and also encouraged him to do more than he believed he was capable of. The redesign of the BSU Map app presented an opportunity for him to show his skills.

“I learned a lot, and we were able to have a lot of fun doing it,” said Scott.

For Scott the classroom was a place to learn computer science concepts but the Corps provided an opportunity to apply these concepts in an actual workplace. These two learning environments have come together to prepare him for a future career.

Undecided on where he will go next, Scott has started looking for jobs in the Indianapolis area. He believes it will be the best place to start his first career, although his ultimate goal is to find a job abroad.

“The world is too big and I like change, so I think moving outside the country would be a pretty sweet experience,” said Scott.

He doesn’t ever want to feel like he is stuck doing the same things over and over again. The Corps has allowed him to work on a variety of different projects, Scott hopes that his career will allow for the same flexibility and diversity.
