Halloween DIY Part Two: Getting Started with Horror Dolls

How to begin the process of “post-death rejuvenation”

My family and I have been Halloween haunters for over ten years, which is to say that we decorate BIG. As I mentioned in my first post (linked below), a full quarter of our garage is all Halloween decorations. In fact, as I’m writing this, it’s early September, and yet we have not started decorating yet — which is, for us, akin to blasphemy.

[To be fair, we’re in L.A. in the midst of a terrible heatwave, where the low temp is 100 degrees — oof. Also, I am post-knee surgery and can’t walk more than ten minutes at a time, so there’s no way I can start digging through our stuff. However, it’s projected to cool down this weekend (to the high 80s!), so I think I’ll be able to convince my family to start, at least, pulling out the boxes.]

In the meantime, I was inspired this summer to start painting horror dolls. I don’t know what got into me — I saw these two dolls at Goodwill, and I knew I had to have them.
