Learn to Do Tole Painting

Have you ever done tole painting?
Do you even know what it is?
I had never heard of it until I took a class and found out that it can be a lot of fun and can produce some beautiful and fun painted pieces.
Traditionally, tole painting is a form of folk art and is decorative painting done on tin and wooden utensils, objects, and furniture. You may have seen a tin tray on grandma’s dresser, painted with a bouquet of flowers on a black base, usually very colorful and pretty.
But it also has been adapted to more modern designs, typically country primitives, but also could be a more modern piece covered with flowers, like a hope chest, table, wooden chair, or bench.
Snowmen feature heavily in tole painting designs and are my favorite things to paint.
The amazing thing about tole painting is that you really don’t have to have artistic talent, and most of us can produce a really outstanding piece just by following the steps I’ll list below.
